'Graveney end Losing Streak'
By John O'Driscoll

Graveney 247 all out (from 40.1 overs, 10 players)

Abinger Hammer 155 all out (from 31.2 overs)

Match Won by 91 runs

This game was initially in doubt with the M.25 closed and Reigate town centre grid-locked. Many of the Graveney players coming from the other side of the motorway. Team Sec, Jay ensured every effort would be made to make this fixture happen. Only Paul Fanning coming from Junction 6 being the doubt-he did not make it!  Graveney played with 10 men.

After a delayed start Graveney batted first and helped with numerous byes (12) and wides-final total 24! openers Dave Moody and Skippy Goodburn posted 36 runs for the first wicket. The quick dismissal of `Barrington` Gray brought the Chairman to the crease to share an 81 run partnership with Sumit 117, inc 11 fours and 8 sixes in 88 balls. .remarkable viewing!

Pradeep (23) kept the score moving along rapidly with the `Green Caps` score passing 200 in the thirty-third over. Bev McGill and `Bigger` Tim did not stay at the crease long, but then an entertaining last wicket stand of 24 between `Smaller` Tim (not out-again 5) and Jay Vibert striking two immaculate fours in his 14 runs-all this despite being hit in the box first ball received...lots of cheering from team mates.

Abinger Hammer`s reply got started with opener Hugh Jolly scoring 17 runs of `Bigger` Tim`s first over! Despite his rapid scoring he was unable to find support. He was finally dismissed for 103 by a stunning catch from our treas.-moving swiftly(!) from backward square-leg to take the chance..a really memorable moment and the champagne award. Abinger Hammer 136-4 wkts.

The rest of the innings folded with Jay Vibert taking 4-6 in four overs despite consuming numerous tins of alcohol during the afternoon.

So Graveney chalk up a Saturday win at last.

Man of the match:  Sumit Jain.

Champagne moment:  Tim Eveleigh's stunning catch.
