John O'Ds Review Of Blindley Heath
(Founded Prior To 1880)

Location

A22 between Godstone and East Grinstead. At junction of A22 and B2029.

Meet at the Smith & Western formerly Blue Anchor, Eastbourne Rd, Blindley Heath.

PavilionAlan Brown scoring at Blindley Heath

Well maintained. Opened June '63 with help from the 'Fitton Trust', Lord's Taverners and members. It's a dry area - no bar.

Changing Room
The Infamous 'Captains Coffin' !

Small. Kit Boxes not welcome! (or a full team!!)

Neal Taylor's is shown here, both now retired!

Showers

New 2 power/electric showers in 2008 ! Used to be a washbasin in the Gents Toilet!

Tea

Sandwiches a plenty, lots of extras! On last visit Graveney gave the tea a mark of 9! I was informed on last visit in 2008 that the rather attractive T-Lady Jenny had been given a better offer !!

Nearest Pub

Smith & Western (formerly Blue Anchor) on the A22, 3 minutes walk from the ground. Now an American Style Bar and Restaurant. After the game Blindley Heath use a Working Mens Club further up the A22. This is comfortable with good prices and a full size snooker table and T.V. Recently under new management (2008).

One of Graveney's oldest fixtures on record took place between these two sides in May 1970. The hunt continues for past facts and figures.

Odd spot

Railings around the ground gives Blindley Heath the look of a Paddock at a Racecourse!

Footnote

Neal Burchett, opening bat and groundsman has said I should mention the excellent batting strip at Blindley Heath - so I have !!
Built, Sponsored and Maintained by Mick Masters.
