John O'Ds Review Of
Strenue (Established 1926) |
Location
Lynwood Road, Thames Ditton Short distance from Sandown Park, Esher
(18 miles from Reigate Town Centre)
Pavilion
Surrey County Playing Fields ASS - Sports Council involved in it’s development, but it’s seen better days -
It has been the target for vandalism despite being in a 'posh' area. Graffiti on outside walls - bar - honours board - plenty of pictures of Strenue sides from the past. |
Changing Room
Unusual set-up - 2 Changing rooms opposite each other - neither one
big enough to take all 11 players and kit-bags. This is where you find who your friends are and who are not! i.e. 3 members in one and 8 in the other !!
Showers
Powerful and Hot - Probably the best of all the grounds Graveney visit! Shower area good for a good old Graveney
Sing-Song...Graveney...Graveney...Graveney....
* On last visit (August 2001) these
showers had been vandalised. May have to review 'best showers visited'
status next year. |
Tea |
Plentiful, Sandwiches, Corn beef
very popular. Cakes (especially the pink ones!) |
Nearest Pub |
Marquis of Granby service very slow (It’s a carvery) Beers John Smiths, Directors, Theakstones. Pub situated adjacent to 2 roundabouts - next to each other! Fun to sit in garden and watch cars narrowly missing one another.
