John O'Ds Review Of
Westcott |
Location
|
Milton
Street on A25 Dorking to Guildford road.
9 miles from Reigate.
|
Pavilion |
The pavilion
was newly built in the eighties after the previous one burnt down (arson
suspected). The new pavilion is all brick and cost around £40,000 - grant
aided by the 'Football Trust' (Littlewoods-Vernons-Zetters). Inside the
pavilion there is a radio and T.V. and a bar serving Tetley, Carlsberg,
Blackthorn and Buds at £1.50! |
|
Changing Room
|
Large table
for club kit bag (useful). Narrow room but reasonable amount of room for
team and large kit boxes.
|
Showers
|
Shared by
both teams. |
|
Tea |
Sandwiches
including egg and cakes. Enough for second helpings. |
Nearest Pub |
The Crown
in Westcott village is 1/2 mile from the ground. It is a friendly 'local'.
The beers include 'Brains' from Cardiff. (sounds like a contradiction to
me! ed.) Highly recommended by the chairman. Also Broadside, S.A. Lots of
saddles on the wall (not blazing!).
