'Graveney
finally taste victory at Brockham'
By Nick Goodburn
Brockham 225 - 8 (from 40 overs)
Graveney 230 - 8 (from 38.2 overs)
Graveney Win by 2 wickets
Graveney
achieved their eight victory of the 2008 season after an
entertaining finish saw them get home with 2 wickets and ten balls
to spare. Opting to field first, Graveney made early inroads through
KC, including a wicket from the first ball of the game. There were
also 2 wickets apiece for Barry Gray, Chris Pullen and Jez Skidmore
as Brockham scored 225-8 from their 40 overs.
In reply Paul
(28) and Barry (56) got Graveney off to a strong start with a
quickfire partnership of 60, before Nick (11) and Barry added a
further 42 for the second wicket. Three quick wickets suddenly
reduced Graveney to 102-1 to 105-4, before Mark Rance and debutant
Hitan Patel added 71 for the fifth wicket. Both departed in quick
succession as Brockham brought their first team bowler into the
attack, and it was then that man of the match KC stole the show,
taking on board the skipper's advice not to come back until he had
won the game, doing just that with a superb 43 not out including
some huge sixes to steer Graveney home with 10 balls to spare.
Man of the match:
Kirk
Clarke.
Champagne moment:
Howard
Hamilton / Nick Goodburn - Howard taking out the skipper whilst taking a
catch that the skipper had called loudly was his.

Moment of Disgrace:
There
were many things and moments that should have got a mention, but certain
people - yes you all know who they are! - steadfastly refuse to write a
match report. As such this is all that the skipper is prepared to write
this week on their lazy behalf. |
